What is an electrical interlock kit?
An interlock kit is a physical metal slide plate installed on your panel cover that prevents the main utility breaker and the generator backfeed breaker from being turned on simultaneously.
Can a portable generator run my central air conditioning?
Usually not. Central AC units draw high starting currents that typically exceed portable generator capabilities unless a soft-start kit is installed.
Where should the generator run?
Always run portable generators outdoors, at least 20 feet from windows, doors, and vents to prevent deadly carbon monoxide build-up.
Do you supply the generator cord?
We install the permanent inlet box and panel breaker, and can supply or specify the correct heavy-duty matching cord.
Is a permit required to install a generator inlet?
Yes, modifying your main panel to add a generator backfeed circuit requires an electrical permit and inspection.
